handbells

Bronze Expressions Handbell Ensemble is the newest addition to the Centralia Cultural Society. Chartered in the fall of 2005 the ensemble has achieved a degree of excellence in advanced handbell ringing. Past performances include spring and Christmas concerts yearly as well as dessert theaters presented with members of the Community Chorus. The past summer season a joint concert with the Sounds of Harmony Barbershop Chorus celebrated America’s music as a part of the Smithsonian exhibit held at the Arts Center.

The ensemble has purchased 4 octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and currently rings with 12 members. As a part of the ensemble’s mission statement, programs in 2011 will be presented for children and youth with the goal of offering classes and ringing experiences for the young people in the community. Membership is offered through auditions as ringing positions become available. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 at the First Christian Church of Centralia. Concerts are presented at the Community Arts Center of Centralia and at community locations in the area. Private performances may also be booked through the ensemble.
